Torfer.Ab - "Second Life" Exhibition

THORFER.AB, of Portuguese origin, is a sculptor who lives near Blois and whose path did not originally lead him towards sculpture. His love of beauty and his need to create led him to work as a landscaper.

The Artist, self-taught, handles all kinds of materials with dexterity. He casts a curious eye over objects destined for the scrap heap. He searches for them and gives them a new life with sensitivity, humour and creativity.

THORFER.AB has a passion: the repurposing of objects... This jack-of-all-trades, passionate soul who has become a "metal enthusiast"… A creative of the Art of Recycling. The Artist scours around for old garden tools (or not), motorcycle headlights, tanks, hubcaps, plates, metal grilles, etc… then looks for the perfect match between the material and his desire to create, and the idea takes shape in his eyes.

THORFER.AB then creates, assembles, welds, cuts, adds a few brushstrokes (or not), and the ordinary object transforms into a sculpture, a work from which an emotion, an attitude, a story emerges…

The Artist confides, "I love recycling, giving new life to materials that are reborn under my fingers, a second life that begins and that, I hope, brightens the life of the person looking at it..."

THORFER.AB is currently exhibiting one of his works above the entrance porch of Empreinte Hôtel. Look up and you'll see his "Large-Format Fish", which comes to life when the wind blows. The Artist is now retired and devotes himself fully to his "metal" passion.
