Philippe Charlet - Exhibition "Artefacts"

Posted on: Friday, July 21, 2023

For years, PHILIPPE CHARLET has been developing, in his studio in Ulaanbaatar, a pictorial work blending classical Art, particularly still life, with the most contemporary artistic movements.

PHILIPPE CHARLET, born in the 1960s, is originally from the Champagne region. He settled in Orléans in the 1990s and still lives there. The Artist is fascinated by the American hyperrealist movement, by realism in general, and practises different techniques. He is an artist described as multifaceted.

The Artist develops his technique by incorporating into his compositions coloured backgrounds in oil paint, instinctive, abrupt, sometimes unsettling, but always with a concern for dynamism and visual harmony with what is shown...

PHILIPPE CHARLET presents his Artefact[s] at the crossroads of realism, the cabinet of curiosities and street art in the Art Brut style, where he conceals objects destined for the scrap heap.

The Artist blends into his collection of paintings a multitude of disparate objects arranged around strong colour schemes. Each one holding a message to decode... PHILIPPE CHARLET now devotes himself entirely to his artistic passion in his studio in Orléans.
