Maxime Paris - Exhibition "Intimate Cars"
The Artist loves anything that rolls. It is only natural that he uses the ballpoint pen, which rolls across the paper. What interests him is the simplicity of the object: easy to find, to carry, to slip into a pocket, the black line and the uncompromising nature of the tool.
MAXIME PARIS, born in 1982 in Nevers, has been drawing for as long as he can remember. He grew up near the famous Magny-Cours racing circuit, which fed his fascination with cars. As a toddler, he cut out his Father's car magazines. The Michel Vaillant comic strip inspired him. Later, he studied Applied Arts, then a BTS in Object Design.
MAXIME PARIS, unsurprisingly, draws "Cars", but not just any cars. Alpine A110, Alpine A110 berlinette, Austin Mini, Citroën BX, Citroën CX, Citroën 2CV, Fiat X 1/9, GMC Pick-up, Jaguar XJ6, Lancia Stratos, Matra Baghera, Mercedes 190E, Porsche 911, Renault 21 turbo, Renault 12, Renault 4L, Super 5, Renault 5 Alpine, Renault 20, Silva 1100, Toyota BJ 40, Volkswagen van, etc...
The Artist confides: "I draw cars, but not just any cars. They are not the most beautiful, nor the most expensive, nor the most powerful. It's the car of the holiday road trip, the one that had neither air conditioning nor electric windows, the one of first kisses, of first outings with friends, of the first job, of the arrival of a first child... The car you bought against everyone's advice, that was a folly, that people envied, scratched or even stole from you, the one you had, the one you have now... The one you dream of, that you will have one day or maybe never..."
MAXIME PARIS isolates his "cars" from their context, focusing on their silhouette and the purity of the vertical lines, without shadow or shine. Through his drawings, the Artist tells an "Intimate Story" woven between THE car and ITS owner.
The Artist has a busy creative life, being a Graphic Designer and Space Designer at a communications agency in Orléans, alongside his artistic passion.
