LP_ Art POP[ular]

Posted on: Tuesday, August 15, 2023

This Local'Artist, a true self-taught talent, picked up the paintbrush again to fight boredom. What interests him are the expressions of faces, known or unknown. Fascinated by Street Art, he unveils his work to the general public for this first Solo Show.

LP_ ART is what could be called a true Local'Artist. He was born in Orléans in 1958, worked there for most of his professional career, and still lives there today.

The Artist is self-taught. Even as a child, he would doodle in his notebooks and get scolded by his teachers. He sketched in pen the heroes of his favourite comic books, Tintin, Lucky Luke and so on. He drew right up until adolescence, then drifted away from the world of drawing…

LP_ ART found himself stuck at home, like so many of us, during lockdown… Boredom took over. It was the chance to return to his first passion: drawing. He tells us: "I took up drawing and painting again to fight boredom."

The Artist is fascinated by Street Art. He especially admires two French street artists who inspire him greatly: TED NOMAD for his personal story and artistic journey, and CRÉAÉRO for his gigantic wall frescoes.

LP_ ART carries out a pictorial study of the faces of well-known or unknown figures. What interests him are the expressions. He starts by drawing the eyes. Then, if they turn out well, he continues with the rest of the face.

The Artist develops his technique by combining acrylic paint, posca markers and spray paint in his works, on all kinds of surfaces he salvages as he comes across them… He also likes drips and stains, which give a controlled imperfection to the finish.

LP_ ART, who now devotes himself entirely to his passion, presents the exhibition ART'POP[ular] and unveils his work to the general public for this first Solo Show.
