Posted on: Thursday, June 6, 2024

Orléans "declares its flame" on 10 July!

The city holds firm to its dynamic character in sport, culture and tourist attractions, and the Olympic Flame will strive to showcase this throughout the day.

Its route will begin at Parc Léon Chenault, a vast green space in the city centre. It will then head towards the Pont George V, which dates back to the 18th century, before continuing along the banks of the Loire. The Flame will then pass by the Théâtre d'Orléans and the Palais des Sports before running alongside Parc Pasteur and heading to the Muséum d'Orléans pour la Biodiversité et l'Environnement. It will also pay a visit to the statue of Joan of Arc on Place du Martroi.

It will then be time to head to Place Sainte-Croix, dominated by the cathedral of the same name. It is on this square, renovated in recent years, that the celebration will be held to honour the values of the Olympic movement. At the end of the final relay, the cauldron will be lit there.
